DePaul and Marquette Meet for 90th Time Wednesday Evening

MILWAUKEE – DePaul women's basketball returns to the road Wednesday, Jan. 28, making the short trip up I-94 to meet longtime foe Marquette. Tipoff from the Al McGuire Center is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, with Bob Brainerd and Chloe Marotta calling the action.
Demon Doings
The Blue Demons are coming off one of their most complete performances of the season, earning a 76–61 victory over Creighton Sunday afternoon to improve to 5–17 overall and 2–9 in BIG EAST play.
Junior guard Kate Novik led DePaul in scoring for the ninth time this season, finishing with 17 points while adding 10 rebounds, five assists, and a season-high five steals. Devin Hagemann netted a season-best 16 points, knocking down 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc, while Natiah Nelson rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points on 83 percent shooting from the field.
DePaul outrebounded Creighton 42–35, powered by a dominant fourth quarter that saw the Blue Demons collect 17 boards. The 42 rebounds marked DePaul's highest total in a BIG EAST game during the 2025–26 campaign. The Blue Demons remain second in the league, averaging 13.6 offensive rebounds per game.
In the month of January, DePaul has received a significant lift from its bench, with reserves averaging nearly 28 points per game. During that span, the Blue Demons hold a +13.5 scoring margin in bench points compared to their opponents.
Novik continues to be an all-around threat, leading DePaul in scoring (12.1 ppg), rebounding (6.5 rpg), and assists (3.6 apg). She ranks top-10 in the BIG EAST in assist-to-turnover ratio, total assists, and assists per game. Hagemann has asserted herself offensively of late, averaging 10.4 points per game and shooting 50 percent (14-of-28) from three-point range over the last five games.
Scouting Marquette
Marquette enters Wednesday's matchup with a 13–7 overall record and a 7–4 mark in BIG EAST play, coming off a 64–60 road win at Butler on Sunday. Four Golden Eagles are averaging double figures, led by Skylar Forbes at 15.3 points per game. Marquette ranks second in the BIG EAST and seventh nationally in three-point shooting percentage (38.4%). Cara Consuegra is in her second season leading the Golden Eagles.
Series Stuff
Wednesday's contest marks the 90th all-time meeting between the familiar rivals. DePaul leads the all-time series 49–40, though Marquette has won the last eight matchups. In the first meeting this season, the Golden Eagles claimed an 85–54 victory at Wintrust Arena on Dec. 4. Redshirt freshman and Madison, Wis. native Alayna West posted a career-high 17 points to lead DePaul.
