DePaul Travels to UConn for Saturday Night Showdown

Blue Demons and Huskies kick off at 5 p.m. CT
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer steps back into BIG EAST play Saturday, Oct. 10 with a trip to Storrs, Conn., to take on UConn at Joseph J. Morrone Field. First touch is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
Demon Doings
The Blue Demons are on the road for the second straight match after falling 4-1 to No. 11 Louisville Tuesday evening. Keagan Pace put DePaul in front early, heading home a Noeh Hernandez corner in the fifth minute for his second goal of the season and the ninth of his career. DePaul heads into the conference tilt 2-3-4 on the season and 0-1-1 in league play in search of its first road win of the fall campaign.
Hernandez continues to climb the program record book. His assist at Louisville was the 16th of his career, moving him into sole possession of eighth on DePaul's all-time assists list, and he sits sixth all-time with 58 career points. This season, Hernandez leads the team with five goals and five assists for 15 points. His 1.67 points per game rank third in the BIG EAST and 16th nationally, while his 0.56 assists per game rank second in the league and 20th in Division I. Daniel Hickiewicz has added four assists.
As a team, DePaul ranks 23rd nationally at 2.33 assists per game. In goal, Chance Johnson is making 4.29 saves per game, second in the BIG EAST, and has matched his career high with seven saves in each of the last two matches.
Scouting UConn
The Huskies are 5-5-2 on the 2026 campaign, including a 1-1 mark in BIG EAST action. In non-conference play earlier in the week, UConn dropped a 1-0 decision to Bryant. Senior forward Elijah Langford owns a team-best seven goals, a figure that ranks third in the BIG EAST and top-20 nationally. As a team, the Huskies are earning 6.83 corner kicks per game, which is 15th in Division I. Kyle Durham has started 11 of UConn's 12 matches in net and has a goals against average of 1.36. Head coach Chris Gbandi is in his fifth season leading his alma mater.
Series Stuff
Saturday marks just the eighth meeting between the Blue Demons and Huskies despite 15 years of simultaneous conference membership. UConn holds a narrow 4-3 edge in the all-time series. The last meeting came Sept. 20, 2024, a 3-2 Huskies victory. The Blue Demons led at the break behind a goal in the first 10 minutes and reclaimed the lead on a Pace goal in the 67th minute, but then-No. 25 UConn answered with a pair of late goals to take the win.
