Blue Demons Head East to Face Seton Hall Saturday

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns to action Saturday afternoon, beginning a pair of East Coast trips this week with a matchup at Seton Hall. Tipoff from Walsh Gymnasium is set for 12 p.m. CT, with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
Demon Doings
The Blue Demons improved to 6-20 overall and 3-12 in BIG EAST play with a 72-68 victory over St. John's on Tuesday at Wintrust Arena. The win marked the 1,000th in program history, as DePaul became just the second current BIG EAST member to reach the milestone.
DePaul placed four players in double figures for the second time this season, led by Kate Novik's 20-point, 11-rebound double-double. Natiah Nelson added 13 points on 60-percent shooting, while Devin Hagemann chipped in 12 points and five assists. Graduate forward Michelle Ojo delivered an all-around effort with 11 points, seven rebounds and a career-high four steals.
Against the Red Storm, DePaul shot a season-best 93 percent (14-of-15) from the free throw line and dished out 20 assists on 27 made field goals.
The Blue Demons continue to lead the BIG EAST in offensive rebounds (13.7 per game) after holding a 15-5 edge on the offensive glass Tuesday, converting those opportunities into 20 second-chance points, their most in league play this season.
Novik paces DePaul with 12.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Scouting Seton Hall
Seton Hall enters Saturday at 16-8 overall and 10-5 in BIG EAST play after a 70-58 road win at Marquette on Wednesday.
Junior Savannah Catalon leads three Pirates averaging double figures, scoring 14.2 points per game. Senior forward Mariana Valenzuela is averaging 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in conference play while shooting 48 percent from the field.
Staying disciplined will be key for DePaul, as Seton Hall leads the BIG EAST in both free throw attempts (17.96 per game) and free throws made (13.83 per game). Tony Bozzella is in his 13th season at the helm in South Orange.
Series Stuff
Saturday marks the 38th all-time meeting between the programs, with DePaul holding a 25-12 advantage in the series. Seton Hall has won seven of the last eight matchups, with the Blue Demons' last victory coming Feb. 15, 2023, at Wintrust Arena.
In the first meeting this season, the Pirates earned an 86-77 win despite four Blue Demons scoring in double figures. Seton Hall had three players score 20 or more points, led by Catalon's game-high 24.
