Blue Demons Visit Friars Wednesday Night in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – DePaul women's basketball begins the home stretch of the regular season Wednesday, Feb. 18, traveling to face Providence inside Alumni Hall. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT with Mike Mancuso and Pam Roecker on the call for ESPN+.
Demon Doings
With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Blue Demons aim to build momentum toward postseason play with four games left on the schedule. DePaul enters the midweek matchup at 6-21 overall and 3-13 in BIG EAST play, still seeking its first road win of the season.
Last time out, DePaul fell behind early and couldn't keep pace with a sharp-shooting Seton Hall squad in a 96-74 setback on Saturday. It was a tale of two halves for the Blue Demons, who scored just 16 points before halftime but erupted for 58 after the break. The second-half total marked DePaul's highest-scoring half of the 2025-26 season and included a 31-point fourth quarter, the team's most productive period of the year.
Sophomore forward Natiah Nelson recorded a career-high 21 points against Seton Hall, shooting 60 percent from the field while adding five rebounds and matching a career best with five assists. Devin Hagemann tallied 16 points, matching her season high, for her third double-digit performance in the last four games. She also added five assists and three steals. Over the last month, Hagemann has averaged 10.4 points and 3.2 assists per game.
DePaul grabbed a season-high 20 offensive rebounds against Seton Hall and converted them into 22 second-chance points, its most in a BIG EAST game this season. The Blue Demons have posted 20 or more second-chance points in back-to-back games and lead the conference in offensive rebounds at 14.0 per game.
Junior guard Kate Novik paces the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game, rebounding at 6.5 per game and assists at 3.6 per game.
Scouting Providence
Providence enters Wednesday at 13-14 overall and 6-10 in BIG EAST play after a 59-54 win at Georgetown on Saturday. The Friars have won three straight and are led by graduate guard Sabou Gueye, who averages a team-best 16.6 points per game in conference play. That mark ranks third in the BIG EAST. Providence ranks third in the league in offensive rebounds at 12.3 per game. Erin Batth is in her third season as head coach.
Series Stuff
DePaul holds a 31-7 advantage in the all-time series, including a 28-5 mark in BIG EAST regular-season matchups. The Blue Demons are 12-4 against the Friars in games played in Rhode Island. The teams have split the season series each of the last two years.
On Jan. 4, Providence earned a 69-59 victory at Wintrust Arena, handing DePaul its first home loss in the series. The Blue Demons led by 11 at halftime before being held to 16 second-half points. The Friars placed four players in double figures, led by Gueye's game-high 17 points. Freshman guard Gina Davorija scored a career-high 13 points on 62 percent shooting.
