CHICAGO – After a pair of road contests, DePaul men's basketball returns to its home court of Wintrust Arena Tuesday, Feb.3, welcoming No. 22 St. John's Red Storm for a 7 p.m. CT tip on Peacock. Noah Reed and Nick Bahe will have the television call, while Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine bring the action to the DePaul Blue Demons Radio Network on SiriusXM and the DePaul Blue Demons App.
Tuesday night will also celebrate one of the program's all-time greats, as Rod Strickland's jersey is retired at halftime. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free replica banner and fans are encouraged to arrive early for a pregame performance by the world-famous Red Panda.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (12-10, 4-7 BIG EAST) looks to build off a competitive two-game road stretch, carrying momentum of four-straight home victories into Tuesday night.
CJ Gunn paced DePaul Saturday with 19 points against Xavier, knocking down five three-pointers – including a late triple to even the score. Xavier answered in the final seconds however to escape with a narrow 68-66 decision. RJ Smith had a career-high eight assists with zero turnovers in the contest.
THE SERIES
St. John's (16-5, 9-1 BIG EAST) holds a 35-22 edge in the all-time series, which dates back to 1932. In Chicago, however, the matchup has been tightly contested, with DePaul trailing just 12-11. The Blue Demons are seeking their first win over the Red Storm since 2022.
The two teams last met in mid-December in Queens, where St. John's claimed a 79-66 result. DePaul placed four players in double figures in that contest, highlighted by a double-double from Kaleb Banks.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
The Red Storm re-entered the national rankings last week and arrive in Chicago on a seven-game win streak and a 5-0 road record this season. St. John's ranks among the nation's leaders in free throw attempts (26.3) and offensive rebounds (13.9) per game.
Zuby Ejiofor leads the way with 15.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, both among the top marks in the BIG EAST, while also averaging two blocks per contest.
