DePaul Hosts Providence Saturday Night

CHICAGO – DePaul looks to continue its strong play at home this season as the Blue Demons host Providence at Wintrust Arena Saturday, Feb. 21. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on FS1 with Cooper Boardman and Dickey Simpkins on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on SiriusXM and the DePaul Blue Demons App.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (14-12, 6-9 BIG EAST) secured its second-straight win and first conference road victory of the season Wednesday with a 69-57 win at Seton Hall. The victory moved the Blue Demons into sixth place in the current BIG EAST standings and marked DePaul's third-straight win over the Pirates.
NJ Benson recorded his second consecutive 20-point performance, finishing with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field and adding eight rebounds. CJ Gunn provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
THE SERIES
Providence leads the all-time series, 42-14, including a 90-72 win earlier this season in Rhode Island. Brandon Maclin paced DePaul in the matchup with 17 points.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence (11-15, 4-11 BIG EAST) enters Saturday following a midweek bye. The Friars last played on Feb. 14, falling 79-69 to No. 17 St. John's. Freshman Stefan Vaaks led Providence with 20 points.
The Friars are 1-7 in true road games this season and are seeking their second road conference win.
Jaylin Sellers leads the team with 17.2 points per game while shooting 40.7 percent from three-point range. He also leads the BIG EAST at the free-throw line, converting 87.8 percent of his attempts. As a team, Providence ranks among the nation's top 15 in scoring offense at 87.4 points per game.
