Track and Field Earns Historic Double Runner-Up at BIG EAST Indoors

DePaul men and women both finish second on home track at Gately Indoor
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field delivered one of its strongest championship performances in program history Saturday at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, capturing eight individual and relay titles while both squads secured runner-up finishes in the team standings at Gately Indoor.
The Blue Demon women finished second with 133 points while the men also placed second with 113 points, marking the second consecutive championship season in which both DePaul programs finished runner-up or better after accomplishing the same feat at the 2025 outdoor championships.
Sade Miller capped a historic weekend by earning BIG EAST High Point Performer of the Meet honors after sweeping the sprint titles (20.0). The sophomore shattered her own program record in the 60m for the second-consecutive day, clocking 7.34 in the final after running 7.38 in Friday's prelims. She returned later in the meet to claim gold in the 200m with a winning time of 23.52.
Jaiah Hopf added another milestone performance in field events, winning the triple jump with a mark of 12.78m to secure BIG EAST Most Outstanding Performer in Field Events honors. Hopf also captured silver in the long jump earlier in the meet with a 6.14m leap, finishing the weekend with two podium finishes.
On the men's side, Daniel Fasasi continued his dominant indoor campaign, winning the 400m title in 46.64 while leading DePaul's sprint group to multiple podium finishes. Tyce Smith added a bronze medal in the event (47.30) before returning later to place fourth in the 200m.
The Blue Demons' relay squads delivered one of the highlights of the meet, sweeping the men's and women's 4x400m relay titles to close the championships.
The men's quartet of Harper Bryan, Tyce Smith, Christian Ortiz-Velazquez and Fasasi powered to gold in 3:11.14, while the women's team of Kayliah Motes, Nadja Moll, Aisha Kazeem and Claire Dunn broke the DePaul school record with a winning time of 3:41.35.
DePaul's women also rewrote another program mark earlier in the meet as the 4x800m relay team of Kalina Urbaniak, Amelia Montgomery, Isabella Orozco and Lauren Pacsi clocked 8:50.11 to break the previous school record of 8:50.42 set in 2024.
Additional individual champions came from across the roster. Aisha Kazeem captured the 60m hurdles title in 8.45 while Isaiah Hopf secured gold in the men's triple jump with a winning mark of 15.25m. DePaul added multiple podium finishes throughout the meet, including runner-up performances from Demetrius Rolle in the 60m (6.71), Christian Ortiz-Velazquez in the 200m (21.33) and Jaiden Gary in the shot put (17.54m).
