WASHINGTON, D.C. – DePaul women's basketball closes out the regular season Sunday, March 1 with a road matchup at Georgetown. Tipoff from McDonough Arena is set for 1 p.m. CT with Monika Moore and Martin Bahar on the call for ESPN+.
Demon Doings
DePaul enters March at 7-23 overall and 5-14 in BIG EAST play following a 71-64 setback to Butler on Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena. The Blue Demons head into the regular-season finale seeking their first road win of the year as they look to build momentum ahead of next week's BIG EAST Tournament.
Four Blue Demons scored in double figures against Butler, but DePaul couldn't overcome a 51-percent shooting performance from the Bulldogs. Graduate forward Michelle Ojo led the way with 13 points and five rebounds, marking her 11th double-figure outing of the season. Fellow graduate student Meg Newman added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
Sophomore Natiah Nelson chipped in 11 points for her 13th double-digit performance of the season, while Devin Hagemann contributed 10 to round out the quartet.
Ball movement remains a strength for DePaul, which tallied 18 assists on 24 made field goals against Butler. The Blue Demons have totaled 18 assists in 14 of 30 games this season and average 16.4 assists per game, a mark that ranks among the top 40 nationally.
DePaul continues to set the tone on the offensive glass, leading the BIG EAST with 14.0 offensive rebounds per game and recording 15 contests with 15 or more offensive boards this season.
The trio of Kate Novik, Hagemann and Nelson has combined to average 36.4 points over the last five games, accounting for more than half of the team's scoring during that stretch.
With one game remaining for 10 of the league's 11 teams, DePaul will be either the No. 10 or No. 11 seed in next week's BIG EAST Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena. Final seeding and the complete bracket will be determined following Sunday's slate.
