Result extends win streak to three, brings Blue Demons to 8-6 on the year

DEERFIELD, ILL. – In the fourth annual Natalie Matko Jackson Memorial Match, DePaul women's tennis prevailed in a 4-0 sweep over UIC (6-5), taking the all-time record to 7-1 in the Blue Demons' favor. The Blue Demons also maintained their perfection in Memorial Matches, becoming 4-0 in such events. College Park Athletic Club in Deerfield hosted the 7 p.m. CT match.

As they have all year, the duo of Hannah Smith and Clara Nilsson proved formidable to open doubles play, triumphing 6-3 on court No. 1 for the Blue Demons. Earning the doubles point for DePaul was the tandem of Helin Alvarez and Roberta Sechi, winning on No. 3 court in an identical 6-3 scoreline. Due to the Blue Demons clinching the doubles point, Sasha Stula and Eleanor Cochran left their match unfinished, though they led 5-3.

More of the same sustained success unfolded in singles play, with the Blue Demons jumping out to early leads on all but two courts. After a tight first set, Stula broke away in the second to a scoreline of 7-5, 6-3, scoring for DePaul at No. 1 court.

Freshman Yasemin Pehlivan continued the DePaul dominance, claiming another point for the Blue Demons after a convincing 6-2, 6-3 score at No. 3. Needing one more successful result to clinch a DePaul win, Sechi delivered in straight sets, passing her test 6-3, 7-5.
