Alex Bernstein Resets Record at Indiana State, Distance Impresses at Bryan Clay

Track and field open weekend at Indiana State and Azusa Pacific
INDIANA/CALIFORNIA – DePaul track and field opened a split weekend on Friday at the Gibson Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational, with a record-breaking hammer throw from Alex Bernstein and personal-best efforts from the Blue Demons' distance group.
At Indiana State, Bernstein led the day with a winning mark of 71.13m in the invitational section of the hammer throw, resetting his own school record from last week while also setting a new meet record and personal best. Quinton Boyd added a third-place finish in the hammer with a mark of 55.20m.
On the women's side in Terre Haute, Elena Opp turned in a season-best 50.97m in the hammer throw to place eighth, while Laila Richardson and Olivia Austin followed in 17th and 18th, respectively, with Austin also recording a season best at 46.64m. Rosie Gonzalez added an 11th-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase, and DePaul saw three Blue Demons compete in the 5,000m, led by Gianna Sanchez in 11th.
At Bryan Clay in California, Mason Krieg posted a personal-best 14:21.64 in the men's 5,000m to place eighth. Amelia Montgomery followed with a personal-best 2:12.50 in the women's 800m, while John Bush and Owen Larkins also competed in the men's 800m.
