Five Blue Demons Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Ettema, Greene, Houge, Nigey and Parker recognized for academic and athletic achivements
CHICAGO – Five DePaul softball student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday. Lydia Ettema, Kelly Greene, Lexi Houge, Bella Nigey and Chelsea Parker were all honored by the professional organization.
Nigey earned the honor for the third time in her career, while Greene was recognized for the second-straight season. Ettema, Houge and Parker collected accolades for the first time in their careers.
Making 43 starts across 49 games, Ettema batted .270 on the year with six home runs, eight doubles, and 29 RBIs. She recorded seven multi-RBI games, tied for second-most on the team, including a two-homer, five-RBI performance against Gardner-Webb and a go-ahead double against St. John's. She holds a 3.53 GPA while pursuing a degree in Health Sciences.
Appearing 33 times in the circle with 13 starts, Greene turned in a team-best and career-best ERA of 4.87 on the season. She tossed a complete game shutout against Seton Hall and recorded her first save as a Blue Demon in a win over Villanova. A 3.83 GPA student, she is pursuing a degree in Health Sciences.
In her senior campaign, Nigey appeared in 31 games and made 13 starts while leading the staff with a team-best 60 strikeouts against only 40 walks. She also paced the pitching staff with three saves on the season, the most by a DePaul pitcher since 2019. She holds a 3.85 GPA and will earn a degree in Psychology in June.
Playing and starting in all 41 games, Houge led the Blue Demons in stolen bases with 13 and walks with 21. She turned in career highs in both runs scored with 31 and hits with 29, including her first career three-hit game against Georgetown. A 3.68 GPA student, she is pursuing a degree in Health Sciences.
A first baseman in all 48 starts, Parker led the team with a 1.220 OPS, 49 RBIs, and 26 extra-base hits while her 15 home runs tied a program record for second-most in a single season and ranked second in the BIG EAST. She led the Blue Demons with ten multi-RBI games and held the team's longest reached base streak of 12, also going 4-for-4 with a double and home run against Yale. She owns a 3.64 GPA while pursuing a degree in Physical Education.
To be eligible for the award, a nominee must earn a minimum 3.50 GPA and have at least sophomore standing, both athletically and academically. Eligible nominees must be contributors on the diamond, participating in 90% of games or starting in 66%. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
