Bernstein Claims 10th Career BIG EAST Weekly Honor

Graduate student holds firm atop the BIG EAST hammer throw

CHICAGO – DePaul track and field's Alex Bernstein has been named BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week following another first-place performance, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Bernstein won the hammer throw at the Badger Challenge on Friday, May 1 with a mark of 67.93m, continuing a dominant outdoor season that has positioned him among the nation's top competitors. His season-best throw of 71.13m leads the BIG EAST, ranks sixth in the NCAA West Region and sits ninth nationally in NCAA Division I.

The weekly honor marks Bernstein's 10th career BIG EAST weekly award and his fourth selection of the outdoor season. He previously earned the honor on March 24, 31, and April 14.

Bernstein and the Blue Demons now turn their focus to the 2026 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
