Friday Night Lights: Men’s Soccer Travels to Bowling Green for Non-Conference Clash

CHICAGO – In search of its first road victory of the season, DePaul men's soccer returns to the pitch Friday night with a visit to Bowling Green. First touch from Cochrane Stadium is set for 6 p.m. (CT) with the match streamed live on YouTube here.
Demon Doings
Last time out, DePaul (2-1-2) rolled to a 3-0 win over Chicago State on Sept. 6, controlling play from the opening whistle and outshooting the Cougars 33-7 overall. Noeh Hernandez opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Luca Iaccino added a pair of first-half goals, while goalkeeper Hayden Vostal earned the first shutout of his career in net, DePaul's first shutout victory since Oct. 4, 2024. The result pushed DePaul to 2-0-0 at Wish Field this season and improved the Blue Demons to 4-0-1 all-time against Chicago State.
As a team, the Blue Demons are currently riding a streak of three straight games with three or more goals scored from Aug. 27-Sept. 6, their first such stretch since Oct. 18-28, 2023. The team ranks 8th nationally in assists per game (3.20) and 13th nationally in total assists (16).
Individually, Iaccino was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this week after his brace pushed his goal total to three on the season and six for his career. Daniel Hickiewicz ranks 12th nationally in assists per game (0.80) and 8th nationally in total assists (4), while Hernandez sits 14th nationally in points per game (2.00) and 5th nationally in game-winning goals (2). The senior midfielder is now tied for ninth on DePaul's all-time points list with 53 through his 51 career appearances.
Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons are 1-4 on the season and have lost four in a row and are scoreless during that stretch. Fifth-year forward Trace Terry paces the squad with a pair of goals and 16 shots this season. Senior goalkeeper Enzo Gil has started all five matches in net and has made 16 saves on the campaign. The Falcons roster this season features 12 returners, including six starters, in addition to 10 newcomers. Eric Nichols is in his 18th season leading the Bowling Green program.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons and Falcons have met seven times prior to Friday's match, including in three of the last four seasons. Bowling Green owns the head-to-head series 5-0-2, although two of the last three meetings ended in scoreless draws.
A season ago, the Falcons grabbed a 2-1 victory at Wish Field behind a pair of goals within two minutes of each other. Hernandez trimmed the deficit for DePaul with a strike in the 64th minute and, despite outshooting the Falcons 23-9, the Blue Demons could not break through for the equalizer.
