Blue Demons remain unbeaten at Wish Field in 2026

CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer controlled the match from the opening whistle, rolling to a 3-0 non-conference win over Chicago State (0-5) on Sunday at Wish Field, out-shooting the Cougars 33-7 overall and holding a 13-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Blue Demons put the game away in the first half, scoring all three goals before the break and out-shooting the Cougars 21-5 in the opening 45 minutes alone.

Junior forward Luca Iaccino recorded a pair of goals, while senior midfielder Noeh Hernandez opened the scoring before later providing an assist. Junior netminder Hayden Vostal earned the first shutout of his career, making two saves.

How It Happened
The Blue Demons made strong early runs centrally but couldn't connect despite a 6-3 edge in shots in the first 15 minutes of the game.

DePaul (2-1-2) broke open the scoring in the 17th minute, with freshman Quinn Bedwell switching the point of attack and finding Hernandez in the center of the field for the senior to dribble down the pitch and convert from 22 yards out to make it a 1-0 ballgame.

The home side grew its advantage in the 38th minute as Hernandez connected with Iaccino on a run through the box for the junior to head it home near post and widen the lead 2-0.

Nearly two minutes later, Iaccino added to his tally, punishing the Cougars for a failed clearance and hammering the ball home to add insurance just before the half.

The Blue Demons held a 21-5 edge in shots in the first half and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

It was a quiet second half as neither team found the back of the net, but the Blue Demons had their chances, firing off 12 shots in the period including three on frame. Vostal preserved his clean sheet with a pair of saves in the waning moments of the match.

Match Notes

Luca Iaccino collected his second and third goals of the season in the victory over the Cougars. The brace pushed his goal tally on the season to second on the squad. Iaccino has six career goals to his credit.
Hernandez scored his fourth goal in the last three matches to lead the Blue Demon attack. The senior owns 20 in his DePaul career. He added an assist on Iaccino's strike in the 38th-minute.
With a team-high 10 points on the season, Hernandez is now tied for ninth on DePaul's all-time points list with 53 through his 51 career appearances. He is tied with Antonio Aguilar who starred for the Blue Demons between 2009-12.
Junior netminder Hayden Vostal earned the first shutout of his career in his fifth start Sunday afternoon. Vostal made a pair of saves on two shots on goal.
Quinn Bedwell tallied his second assist of his freshman season on Hernandez's first-half goal.
Jordan Clagette picked up the second assist of his senior campaign and third of his career on Iaccino's 40th minute goal.
Keagan Pace made his first start of the season.
DePaul improved to 4-0-1 in the series against Chicago State.
The Blue Demons remained unbeaten at Wish Field this season, moving to 2-0-0.
