- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Trevor Swartz joins the Men’s Soccer coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2020-21 season.
Swartz played his college soccer at the University of Indiana where he made a total of 58 starts from 2014-2018. Swartz scored 12 career goals and assembled an impressive senior campaign, leading the NCAA with 16 assists and earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors. During his career as a Hoosier, Swartz appeared in the 2017 national title game and the NCAA semifinals in 2018.
After his collegiate career, Swartz played professionally with Toronto FC of the United Soccer League and with the Greenville Triumph.
Swartz was a volunteer coach at Sacramento State between his two seasons of playing professional soccer but his opportunity with the Blue Demons is his first hands-on collegiate coaching experience.
"The most fun I've had playing soccer is playing in college," said Swartz. "Knowing that it can be a great experience for these guys and having this opportunity, coming here to coach is just something I couldn't pass up."
Swartz joined the team in January after the squad wrapped up its quarantine period. "I think we have a really good team, especially with the recuriting class that Plotty was able to bring in," said Swarts. "It seems like there are a lot of really solid returning leaders as well so this is a good group and I'm excited to be a part of it."
