Brian Livingston
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Brian Livingston has been the volunteer assistant coach working with the DePaul men’s tennis program for the last ten seasons, helping coach Matt Brothers and the Blue Demons win back-to-back BIG EAST championships in 2021 and 2022. He also assisted in the Blue Demon's BIG EAST semifinals appearances in the last six years along with the No. 1 seed and a berth in the BIG EAST finals in 2018.
Livingston played No. 1 singles and doubles for Northern Illinois the first three years of his collegiate career where he was the Mid-American Conference Newcomer of the Year and All-MAC Second team as a freshman in 2005-06. He finished his debut season with a 22-13 singles record.
As a sophomore, Livingston was All-MAC First Team after leading the Huskies with a 23-11 singles record. The following season Livingston racked up a sparkling 24-6 singles record while going 20-8 in doubles on his way to being honored as the MAC Player of the Year.
Livingston played his senior year as a graduate student at top-10 nationally ranked Illinois where he finished 12-4 at No. 6 singles and was 17-10 at No. 3 doubles. He helped the Illini remain among the top 10 of men’s tennis programs in the country most of the season and to qualify for the NCAA tournament.
"As a player, Brian was one of---if not the best---competitor and mentally tough opponents I have ever coached against,” Brothers said. “As an assistant coach, he has a complete understanding of tennis and what it takes to compete at the highest levels in this great sport. He is a vital part of our program, and his coaching gives us a distinct advantage over all of our opponents."
