Former DePaul All-American pitcher Tracie Adix-Zins returned to Lincoln Park to lead the softball program as head coach in 2019.
In 2021, Adix-Zins led the Blue Demons to their seventh BIG EAST regular season title in program history with a 13-1 league mark. The Deaul coaching staff was named BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers after going a perfect 10-0 at Cacciatore Stadium and finishing the season 25-11. The former pitcher tutored a pair of right handers, Natalie Halvorson and Krista Dalgrarn to to All-BIG EAST honors after the duo totaled a staff ERA of 1.94 across 14 conference games.
The 2020 season was abruptly ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic as DePaul held an 8-12 record after four weekends of non-conference play.
In her first season leading the DePaul softball program, Adix-Zins led the Blue Demons to their third-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament title and 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. DePaul captured a win against St. Francis in Ann Arbor Regional play and ended the season with an overall mark of 35-16, the most wins since the team finished with a record of 44-11 in 2014.
Prior to her return to DePaul, Adix-Zins had stints as an assistant at Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and most recently NC State. Adix-Zins spent four seasons at the Badgets pitching coach from 2010-14, helping Wisconsin to a 144-75 record during her tenure. While in Madison, she helped the Badgers to the program's first Big 10 Tournament title in 2013 and first NCAA Regional appearance in eight seasons. Wisconsin's pitching staff finished the season with a 1.96 ERA, the fourth-best in school history and best since 2002. The staff threw three no-hitters, the most in a single season for the program and first no-hitter in the previous 12 years.
In Adix-Zins lone season at Oklahoma State, she led a young pitching staff composed of underclassmen to throw seven complete game shutouts and finish the year with the second-fewest walks in the Big 12 Conference.
While at NC State, she handled the Wolfpack pitching staff. In her first year, Adix-Zins helped NC State pitchers strike out the sixth-most batters int he league with 263. In 2017, she guided freshman Peyton Silverman to All-ACC Freshman Team honors after she tallied 13 wins and threw 24 complete games, the most of any pitcher in the conference.
As a player at DePaul, Adix-Zins led the Blue Demons to a 2007 Women's College World Series appearance with a 22-4 record in the circle. Her season was highlighted by a perfect 10-0 mark in BIG EAST play and 11 scoreless inninsg in the Norman (Okl.) NCAA Super Regional, earning the win in two games to uipset the fourth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on their home field.
In addition to her stellar record in the circle, she finished the 2007 season with a 0.89 ERA – the fifth-best among Division I pitchers. She threw 10 complete game shutouts and struck out 168 batters en route to earning BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year and a second team NFCA All-American honors in her final year with the Blue Demons.
The Edmonds, Wash., native earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from DePaul and a Master of Science degree in sports pedagogy from South Dakota State. While completing her graduate degree she was a graduate assistant coach at South Dakota State.
Adix-Zins and her husband Ryan have two daughters, Ava and Piper, and reside in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
