Erin Higgins begins her third season as an assistant coach with DePaul Volleyball in the fall of 2021. Higgins joined the staff on Feb. 19, 2019.
Â
Erin is responsible for student-athlete development, while integrating the program’s academic and athletic experience. Erin also handles all messaging across all social media platforms that helps promote DePaul’s Vincentian mission and what it is like being a student-athlete at DePaul. Erin’s work has been instrumental in the Blue Demons success. In the 2019-20 school year, DePaul Volleyball finished with a 3.71 cumulative GPA and won the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award as well as the BIG EAST Sport Excellence Award.Â
Higgins also coordinates all operations, travel and community engagement for the program. In April of 2021, Erin was instrumental in DePaul's partnership with TEAM Impact in signing Ariyana Alamo, an 11-year old battling Acute lymphocytic leukemia to the program.Â
Â
Prior to joining DePaul, Higgins was an assistant coach at Truman State for two seasons. Higgins helped lead the Bulldogs to a mark of 21-11 in 2018 before becoming a Blue Demon. In her two seasons working in Kirksville, the program boasted an overall record of 38-26, had six All-Conference Student Athletes, and continued to excel in the classroom with a 3.52 team cumulative GPA.
Before beginning her stint at Truman State, Higgins had a successful three-year tenure as the head coach of the Blue Devils of Davenport Central High School in Iowa. During her time at Central, Higgins improved the program’s finishes in the Mississippi Athletic Conference (MAC) from eighth in 2014 to fourth in the fall of 2016. Within that time frame, Higgins coached 10 All-Conference, three All-Metro and three All-District performers.
Â
"It became evident during the interview process that Erin brings to the table an added layer of recruiting and player development that's exactly the fit we need for this program. Her passion, versatile coaching knowledge, and ability to network is a great compliment for my staff and me. Most importantly, these qualities are a compliment to her value system that aligns perfectly with our Vincentian mission.
Â
"She will elevate our training gym, be an excellent role model for our young women, and add even more recruiting contacts to our vast network. The combination of these attributes will help us continue to move the needle forward in all aspects of our program for years to come."
Â
A previous standout at Missouri-St. Louis, a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Higgins was a four-year starter from 2008-2011 at the right side for the Tritons.Â
Â
Erin resides in Chicago.
