Peter Tombasco is in his 22nd year with DePaul Athletics, and is the Executive Associate Athletics Director for Athletic Performance, Facilities and Event Operations. He is the Sport Administrator for DePaul men's basketball and men’s golf and is a member of the department's executive and senior leadership teams. Additionally, he responsible for the Athletics Facilities and Sports Medicine staff, and supervises the DePaul-controlled broadcasts including commentator talent acquisition, broadcast scheduling and script management. He also serves as the primary liaison between DePaul and Wintrust Arena, home of DePaul Basketball.
Prior to joining DePaul in 2002, Tombasco worked for Nelligan Sports Marketing and functioned as the Midwest General Manager. In addition, he has extensive corporate experience having spent 14 years with Honeywell International. During his time with Honeywell, Tombasco held several key positions in sales, marketing and management. He was honored three times with membership to Honeywell’s exclusive Ambassador Club, which recognizes individuals for their business accomplishments. Furthermore, Tombasco earned Sales Manager of the Year for his excellence in the training and development of Honeywell sales associates.
A graduate of DePaul’s School of Commerce, Tombasco earned his degree in marketing with a minor in communications. He began his career when he volunteered with the DePaul athletics department, which recognizes him as DePaul’s first athletic department marketing intern. In that capacity, he is credited with obtaining DePaul’s initial major corporate sponsorships and all associated funding of DePaul’s inaugural holiday women’s basketball tournament.
Along with these accomplishments, he retired with honors from the Navy Reserves after a distinguished career where he served as a Senior Logistics Officer and earned the rank of Commander.
Tombasco serves as a certified Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Football Official, is a member of the (NOA) Northern Officials Association and (NASO) National Association of Sports Officials. In addition, he sits on the Officials Executive Committee for the Chicagoland Youth Football Leagues (TCYFL), which is America’s largest independent youth football league.
Tombasco, a native of Corning N.Y, and his wife Patty, a registered Illinois dental hygienist, reside in Grayslake, Ill. They have a son, Dan, who is also a proud DePaul alumnus and works as a prosecutor in Appleton, Wis.
