Cariov, Kurek Win At Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MILWAUKEE – DePaul’s Jevgenij Cariov reached the finals and classmate Robert Kurek made it to the semifinals highlighting the Blue Demons’ trip to the annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic held last weekend.
Cariov, who reached the NCAA Tournament’s second round last year, dropped his championship match to Rameez Junaid of Auburn, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. He reached the finals by beating Anthony Jackson of Michigan 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Kurek fell in the semifinals to Matt Klinger of Arizona State 6-2, 6-2. He reached the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Vincent Ng of Ohio State.
The Blue Demons will open dual meet action this Saturday when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Michigan.
