Men's Tennis Splits At The HEB Collegiates

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. – DePaul’s men’s tennis squad split its four matches over the weekend at the annual HEB Collegiate Team Championships at the HEB Tennis Center.

The Blue Demons got off to a great start with a 4-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. DePaul got singles wins from Andy Michael, Dan Bennett and Robert Kortasco and doubles victories from Michael and Robert Kurek and Jevengi Cariov and Bennett. The other matches did not finish.

Head coach Jeff Kutac’s squad then fell to Louisville 4-0. DePaul’s only win came at No. 2 doubles as Cariov and Bennett won.

DePaul bounced back to beat UNLV 4-1 behind doubles victories from Michael and Kureck and Cariov and Bennett. In singles, Michael, Kurek and Kotroczo all posted wins.

The weekend closed out with a 4-1 loss to Boise State. DePaul’s only wins came in doubles as Cariov and Bennett completed a perfect 4-0 weekend and Kortroczo and Sam Davidson won.
