Softball Sweeps Cards, Win 10th Straight in C-USA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -The 16th-ranked DePaul softball team rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh erasing a 2-1 deficit on its way to defeating Louisville 4-2 for its 10th consecutive Conference USA victory.
The Cardinals grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth, but could not hold the lead as the Blue Demons began their comeback in the sixth inning. April Valdez singled and Sarah Douglas got the Demons on the board after roping a double, bringing Valdez home and cutting the Louisville lead to one.
In the seventh, Liz Bouck reached on a bunt and moved to second on a fielder's choice. Sarah Martz followed with a single scoring Bouck and tying the game at 2-2. Gina Ramacci reached on a two-out error allowing Martz to score the go-ahead run. The Blue Demons added another run on the Cardinals second error of the inning, giving them the 4-2 to victory.
Martz picked up the victory moving to 8-2 on the season. She allowed one earned run on seven hits and striking out seven. Lindsay Chouinard retired the Cardinals in order in the seventh picking up her third save and giving DePaul the sweep.
Bouck finished the game 3-for-3 scoring one run and Sarah Douglas went 1-for-3 with an RBI and stolen base. Martz added an RBI and run scored and Jenny Doezie and Saskia Roberson delivered base hits.
The Blue Demons finished the week with a 6-1 record and move to 27-7 on the season. Their 12-1 conference mark is good for first place.
Northwestern is DePaul's next opponent this Wednesday. The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Wish Field.
