Michigan Upsets Softball

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 1 seeded DePaul ended their season on Saturday with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Michigan. The Blue Demons (48-7-1) took an early 1-0 lead but the No. 3 Wolverines took over with a three-run homer and DePaul never recovered.
Michigan will advance to play California in the NCAA Region 7 Tournament.
The Blue Demons put one run up on the board in the top of the first inning when Saskia Roberson hit in Liz Bouck on a ground out.
Michigan answered back immediately when Marissa Young nailed a three-run homer to left field in the bottom of inning.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth when DePaul came back to score one run. Katy Kukman sent a base hit down the left field line and Gina Ramacci followed with a double to left field. Dana Kenney hit a single to left and scored Kukman. DePaul trailed 3-2.
With the game on the line in the top of the seventh with one out, Kenney hit a double down the left field line to keep the Blue Demons alive. Ashley Parker entered to pinch run and stole third but the game ended short when two Blue Demons struck out.
