2003-04 schedule
CHICAGO
– The schedule for year two of the Dave Leitao era at DePaul will feature 10 opponents and at least 12 games against teams that reached postseason play a year ago it was announced today.
“It’s a very exciting schedule for both our players and fans,” Leitao said. “One of our goals was to provide the college basketball fans of Chicago with local match-ups and we have succeeded in that. The entire non-conference portion is very demanding, however, we have a solid group of veterans returning who realize the non-conference schedule will be a good test for the rigors of the always tough Conference USA season.”
DePaul will open the season with a local flavor as the campaign starts on November 21 when Loyola-Chicago comes to the Allstate Arena followed by Northwestern four days later (November 25). November concludes with a trip to East Lansing, Mich. for the Coca-Cola Classic which will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1979 Final Four. The Blue Demons will meet Pennsylvania while Michigan State will tackle Indiana State on November 29. The consolation and championship games will take place the following day.
December begins with Bradley’s first visit to the Allstate Arena since the 1993-94 season on December 7 followed by a trip to Ohio (December 9). Notre Dame comes to the Allstate Arena for the first time since 1993 on December 14. Toledo will be in Rosemont to close out the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule on December 20. After Christmas, DePaul will visit Seton Hall on December 27 before Southeast Missouri State finishes out the 2003 part of the campaign with a New Year’s Eve contest.
The 2004 portion of the slate kicks-off with the final non-conference game of the season when Chicago State visits the Allstate Arena on January 3.
The Conference USA season starts on January 6 with a visit from Charlotte. Memphis (January 13) and UAB (January 17) are the other C-USA home games in January. Along with trip to Cincinnati on January 10, DePaul will have a three-game road swing to end the month with visits to TCU (January 20), Marquette (January 24) and East Carolina (January 31).
There will be four home games in February as Tulane (February 3), Marquette (February 7), Saint Louis (February 21) and Southern Miss (February 28) all come to the Allstate Arena. The Blue Demons will hit the road to face Saint Louis (February 11), Houston (February 14) and Louisville (February 25).
March features the final home game of the regular season as Cincinnati comes to Rosemont on March 4. A trip to USF concludes the regular season on March 6.
The annual Conference USA Tournament will take place on March 10-13 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
