Softball Opens Conference USA Season

Charlotte, N.C. - The DePaul Blue Demons softball team opens it Conference USA season with a double header Wednesday, March 24 against Charlotte beginning at 1:30 EST.  They will also face off on Thursday, at 12:30 EST.  The Blue Demons enter the C-USA season with a 5-13 record and they have won two of their last four games.

All-American Saskia Roberson leads the Blue Demons with a .439 batting average and 18 RBIs.  Freshman Linda Secka leads the DePaul with five homeruns and is second averaging .364 at the plate.  Sarah Martz and Christina Douglas are each batting over .300. 

The Blue Demons are led on the mound by All-American Sarah Martz.  Martz has thrown 69 innings striking out 63 batters and carries an ERA of 2.94.       

Charlotte holds a 12-8 and are 1-2 in C-USA.  They are led by Jessica Moore who averages .344 at the plate and has notched 12 RBIs.  The pitching staff has a combined ERA of 3.37 and is led by Kristen Bowen who has a 2.62 ERA.

Last season the Blue Demons defeated Charlotte in all three of their meetings, 6-0, 15-1, and 7-0.
