CHICAGO - The DePaul University softball team will make the short drive to face city-rival UIC, Thursday afternoon at Flames Field.  The teams will heat up the southside with doubleheader set to begin at 4:00 p.m.

Historically, the Blue Demons have dominated the series, leading it 36-21. DePaul has won the last five meetings, out scoring the Flames 26-4 since 2001. 

DePaul (23-21-1 10-7 C-USA) split a pair of games earlier this week at Notre Dame.  Sarah Martz picked up the win in game one, her 26th complete contest of the year. Martz piloted the offense, recording a home run and triple in the 3-1 victory over the Irish.   The triple, her 288th career hit, broke the University record for hits. The previous record holder was Missy Nowak (1992-95).

In the second game, Sarah Douglas connected on her fourth home run of the season to put the Blue Demons up 1-0, but the Irish rallied back in the third inning to score two runs that secured the win.

The Flames are coming off a come-from-behind, 4-1, win over Horizon League opponent, Butler, on Tuesday.  The Flames are 11-1 in league play and 28-20 overall. They have won seven of their last eight, with their lone loss, 8-0, coming at the hands of Notre Dame. 

The Flames are led by Cameron Astiazaran and Alison Aguilar.  Astiazaran is batting .420 and leads the team in hits, runs and double.  Aguilar handles the brunt of the pitching duties, notching 18 starts on the season and a 2.37 ERA.
