CHICAGO- First year DePaul men’s tennis coach Arvid Swan announced the 2006-07 schedule for the program’s second season as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. The Blue Demons are pitted against conference rivals from Marquette, Rutgers and Connecticut as the schedule builds up to the BIG EAST Conference Championships April 20-22 in Tampa, Florida.
DePaul spends the fall portion of its schedule on the road, opening the season at Marquette’s Milwaukee Classic Sept. 22-24. The Midwest Regional follows Oct. 19-24 in Minneapolis, Minn. and Western Michigan’s Bronco Invitational wraps up the fall season Oct. 27-28.
The New Year brings the Blue Demons back to Chicago to play at Northwestern on Jan. 12 and then to host UIC Jan. 19 at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. DePaul closes out January on the road, playing at Wisconsin-Green Bay on the 27th and Wisconsin on the 28th in Madison.
February gives DePaul three home matches at the Lakeshore Athletic Club as it hosts Valparaiso on the 2nd, Arkansas on the 3rd and Western Illinois on the 11th. The Blue Demons’ road schedule that month takes them to Marquette on 10th for a BIG EAST match, then to Iowa on the 16th, Illinois State on the 17th, and Des Moines where they face Drake on the 23rd and Nebraska on the 24th.
The Blue Demons open March with a home match against Bradley at the Lakeshore Athletic Club on the 2nd then spend the remainder of the month traveling. They play at Florida Atlantic on the 25th, at Indiana State on the 30th and against Toledo in Indianapolis, Ind. on the 31st.
The first half of April leads DePaul towards the BIG EAST Championships with road matches at Butler on the 1st and at Chicago State on the 5th. The regular season closes with conference matches in Storrs, Conn. against Rutgers on the 14th and Connecticut on the 15th.
The Blue Demons finished the 2005-06 schedule with an overall record of 8-14, going 3-3 in BIG EAST play.
