Golf Finishes Day One of Windon Memorial Classic

GLENCOE, Ill. The DePaul men’s golf team holds 11th place in the team standings following Sunday’s first and second rounds of the Windon Memorial Classic. Senior Matthew McMahon leads the Blue Demons through 36-holes and carries a tie for 11th in the individual standings entering Monday’s final round at Lake Shore Country Club.
McMahon opened his day with a two-under-par round of 69 and followed with a second round of 72. He rests one shot under par with a total of 141 and sits in a six-way tie for 11th place.
Junior Cory Blenkush carded rounds of 70 and 74 for a two-over-par score of 144. He shares 25th place with five other golfers entering the final 18 holes. Senior Will Cumberland posted a two-round total of 153 and shares 58th place with three golfers, while sophomore Greg Doherty follows in a three-way tie for 62nd place after recording a 36-hole score of 154. Junior Nick Martin holds 65th place with a two-round score of 155.
Kent State tops the team standings with a combined score of 559 and tournament host Northwestern follows in second place with a score of 569. The Blue Demons carry a combined score of 585 as they trail BIG EAST Conference rival Marquette by three strokes.
Northwestern’s David Lipsky leads the field of 67 individuals with a five-under-par total of 137.
Monday’s final round of 18 holes tees off at 8 a.m. (CST).
