Men's Tennis Begins Fall Season at Milwaukee Classic

CHICAGO The DePaul men’s tennis team opens its fall campaign this weekend at the 32nd annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Elm Grove, Wisconsin. The three-day tournament, hosted by BIG EAST Conference rival Marquette, runs Friday through Sunday at the Western Racquet Club.
In addition to DePaul and Marquette, the round-robin style tournament features squads from Wichita State and Ball State. The Blue Demons open their weekend on Friday at 9 a.m. as they face Wichita State in singles action before taking on Ball State in doubles at 11 a.m. Saturday pits DePaul against Marquette in singles at 9 a.m. and Wichita State in doubles at 11 a.m. The Blue Demons close out the tournament on Sunday as they take on Ball State in singles at 9 a.m. and Marquette in doubles at 3 p.m.
Head coach Matt Brothers enters his first season with the Blue Demons after serving as an assistant coach at Iowa. He previously served on the coaching staff at Marquette and played tennis for the Golden Eagles from 1995-97.
The 2007-08 DePaul squad returns juniors Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada, as well as sophomores Alasdair Graetz and Vanja Grgec. Joining the Blue Demons are newcomers Tim Cadet, Ben Hartman, Bartosz Jozwiak and Adam Williams.
DePaul comes off a 2006-07 campaign that saw the Blue Demons earn sixth place at the BIG EAST Championship and finish with an overall record of 18-7.
