Blue Demons Set to Tee Off at Marshall Invitational

CHICAGO - The DePaul Blue Demons travel to Huntington, W. Va. for the Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf and Country Club. DePaul is coming off its best finish of the season with a fourth-place showing at the Cal Poly Invitational last week. The two-day tournament opens on Friday and concludes on Saturday.
The Guyan Golf Course was built in 1922 in the east section of Huntington. The course has been the site of numerous tournaments including the annual Marshall Invitational and qualifiers for the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open. Guyan has also hosted several West Virginia Opens. The first, in 1936, was won by Sam Snead. Snead also qualified for his first U.S. Open at the course. Guyan measures 6,456 yards from the championship tees, and features medium-sized greens.
The Blue Demons return from West Virginia and compete in the adidas Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., April 11-12 before making their second stop at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla., for the 2009 BIG EAST Championship. DePaul finished 18th at the Ron Smith/USF Invitational at Lake Jovita in early March.
