Golf Plays in Two Events Hosted by Indiana and Loyola

CHICAGO - The Blue Demons split up this week for events in Bloomington, Ind. and Hawthorn Woods, Ill. A contingent of Blue Demons head down I-65 for the adidas Hoosier Invitational hosted by Indiana University this weekend before a group of golfers play at the two-day Caputo Invitational on Monday and Tuesday hosted by Loyola at Hawthorn Woods Country Club.
DePaul is one of 15 teams playing in Indiana tournament on the par-71, 6,813-yard course IU Championship Golf Course. Joining the Blue Demons are host Indiana along with Butler, Cleveland State, Colgate, Detroit, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, George Washington, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Purdue, Western Illinois and Youngstown State.
Hawthorn Woods Country Club is located in Chicago's northwest suburbs and features a par-72, 7,045-yard layout. A number of DePaul players will play as individuals at the tournament that features Chicago State, host Loyola, Notre Dame, North Dakota State, Illinois-Springfield, Green Bay and Wright State.
The Blue Demons are in their third straight week of competition after posting their top two finishes of the season in each of the last two tournaments. DePaul was fourth at the Cal Poly Invitational (Mar. 26-27) and fifth at the Marshall Invitational (April 3-4).
Last Week: DePaul finished fifth at the 16-team Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W. Va., with a three-round total of 882. Greg Doherty led the team in a tie for ninth overall with a total of 218 (74-69-75) while Nick Martin (74-73-74) and Ben Westley (73-71-77) finished in a group at 25th with a tournament score of 221.
Looking Ahead: DePaul joins its BIG EAST foes at Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City, Fla. for the 2009 BIG EAST Championship. The conference tourney takes place April 19-21.
