Men's Tennis Opens Play at the Ball Sate Fall Invitational

CHICAGO - The DePaul men's tennis team opens its 2009-10 season at the Ball State Fall Invitational. The three-day, 15-team tournament is scheduled to be played at the newly renovated Cardinal Creek Tennis Center and the Lucina Courts, Sept. 25-27 in Muncie, Ind.
The tournament which is in its 31st year brings together squads from around the Midwest including BIG EAST rivals Louisville and Marquette. The Blue Demons will also face student-athletes from Green Bay, Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Dayton, Xavier, Detroit, Valparaiso, IPFW, IUPUI, Cleveland State, Eastern Illinois and Butler.
The tournament features four flights of singles each with a 32-person draw. There will also be four flights of doubles with draws of 16 apiece. Consolation play for first round losers in both singles and doubles will be played on Saturday.
Under the leadership of third year head coach Matt Brothers, the Blue Demons have seen much success. DePaul reached the Championship of the BIG EAST Tournament in 2009 after knocking off top-seeded Louisville in the semifinals. This season's veteran line-up includes seniors Alasdair Graetz and Vanja Grgec along with juniors Ben Hartman and Bartosz Jozwiak.
