CHICAGO - Led by men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell and women's basketball coach Doug Bruno, the DePaul athletics department continued to build the excitement heading into the start of the 2010-11 basketball seasons with the annual DePaul Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon on Tuesday afternoon at McGrath Arena.
Hosted by Zach Zaidman - DePaul's play-by-play broadcaster on WSCR 670 The Score - the luncheon opened as Bruno greeted the crowd at McGrath Arena and previewed his team's upcoming season before Purnell provided the Chicago media and DePaul corporate sponsors and season ticket holders with insight into his team's preparations for the start of the 2010-11 campaign.
Both teams open exhibition action this Saturday as each team faces Northwood University - a NCAA Division II school from Midland, Mich. The women's team plays at 5 p.m. followed by the men's team against Northwood at 7 p.m.
Season tickets are on sale now for both the men's and women's programs at the DePaul ticket office by calling (773) 325-SLAM. Men's basketball season tickets start at just $99 and a variety of mini-plans are also available. Single-game tickets for both men's and women's basketball games are set to go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27.
