Harry Leads DePaul Past Villanova on Pink Zone Day

CHICAGO - Behind a career-high 18 points from Katherine Harry, the DePaul women's basketball team topped Villanova, 64-60 on Saturday in BIG EAST Conference action at McGrath Arena.
In a game in which DePaul wore pink uniforms for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone initiative; the Blue Demons did not disappoint a crowd of 2,708, who was wearing pink but cheering on the Blue Demons.
Harry, who scored DePaul's first eight points, led a trio of Blue Demons players in double figures as Keisha Hampton added 13 points and Sam Quigley finished with 12.
Felicia Chester paced the floor with 13 rebounds as DePaul outrebounded the Wildcats 40-29, including a 15-8 advantage on the offensive glass. Harry finished with nine rebounds, four of which were offensive.
DePaul saw an early 10-point first half lead disappear as Villanova used 6-for-17 effort from behind the arc to take a 31-29 advantage to the locker room at the half.
Coming out of the half, the Wildcats used an 8-2 run that stretched their lead to 39-31 with 17:34 left to play.
Down by eight the Blue Demons began to chip away at the Villanova lead as a Jennifer Juergens' steal turned into a three-point play for Chester which pulled the Blue Demons within five with 16:33 left.
The two teams traded baskets before a Harry layup tied the game a 47 with 10:32 on the clock.
There were two more ties before Anna Martin's second made free throw gave the Blue Demons' the lead for good with 7:47 left to play.
Villanova finished 9-for-29 from behind the 3-point line while Maria Getty and Kyle Dougherty each finished with 14 points for the Wildcats.
The Blue Demons return to action on Feb. 10 when they host No. 1/1 Connecticut. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be seen live in the Chicagoland on Lakeshore Public Television (LPTV).
