DePaul Sits in Seventh After 36 Holes

LEMONT, Ill. - After moving into a tie for fourth following Saturday morning's first round, the DePaul golf team slid to seventh in the afternoon 18 holes. Russell Budd and Maximilian Mayer led the way for the Blue Demons with both players in a group in 20th place.
Budd posted rounds of 76 and 74 while Mayer shot a one-over 73 in the first round before a 77 in the second round. Five players are tied for 20th with two-round scores of 150 (+6). Loyola's Dylan Gergen leads the field with a 73 and 70 to hold a one-stroke advantage over IUPUI's Ben Engle. Gergen enters the final round with a one-under total of 143 while Engle is at even-par 144.
Charles Boucher is a stroke behind Budd and Mayer with a two-round total of 151. He is followed by Ben Westley in a tie for 32nd and John Pavelko in a group in 65th. Westley carded rounds of 75 and 78 and Pavelko shot a 77 and an 87.
Four other DePaul golfers are playing as individuals led by Erik Peterson in a tie for 61st. He is followed by Mark Sanchez in 63rd and Mike Tuel and Brad Stephens in a group in 65th. Peterson finished the first day at 161, Sanchez at 162 while Tuel and Stephens totaled 164.
Florida Gulf Coast holds the team lead by six strokes over second place Detroit and Loyola. Florida Gulf Coast has a team total of 587 (+11) ahead of Detroit and Loyola in a tie for second at 593 (+17) and IUPUI is fourth at 594 (+18).
Sunday's final round begins at 7 a.m. with 18 holes scheduled for Ruffled Feathers.
