Men's Tennis Tops Detroit

CHICAGO - The DePaul men's tennis team started it 2011 spring season with a dominating 7-0 win over Detroit-Mercy on Saturday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. The dual was the first half a doubleheader in which the Blue Demons play UIC later this evening.
Sven Kasper and Bartosz Jozwiak improved to 11-3 on the season with an impressive 8-0 win over Nick Tolomei and Dean Butts in the first doubles match. The Blue Demon pair was unstoppable at the net and hit big serves to give DePaul its first win of the day.
Ben Hartman and Mathias Hambach clinched the doubles point for DePaul with an 8-4 in the third position before George Chanturia and Matija Palinic swept the courts with a hard-fought 8-7 (4) win on the second court.
The Blue Demons carried over their momentum into singles action as every court finished in two sets. Chanturia was the first done when he overtook Alex Lotasinsky 6-1, 6-1. Kasper followed with his second dominating performance when he topped Tolomei 6-1, 6-0 in the number one singles match.
Palinic sealed DePaul's victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Cesar Escabar Serrano on the fourth court.
The Blue Demons and Flames begin their dual at 6 p.m.
