Blue Demons Stumble at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP)-Monique Reid scored 28 points and Louisville's defense shut down No. 7/11 DePaul in a 68-55 win on Wednesday.
Shoni Schimmel added 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Cardinals (18-10, 9-5 BIG EAST), who knocked off a ranked team at home for the fifth time this season.
Keisha Hampton led the Blue Demons (25-4, 12-2 BIG EAST) with 20 points but DePaul shot just 34 percent from the field and turned it over 20 times while posting its lowest point total of the season.
The Cardinals led by as much as 15 in the second half. DePaul pulled within seven points on two different occasions.
DePaul's best chance came when it closed to within 57-50 with just over 4 minutes to go but the Blue Demons came up empty on three straight possessions and the Cardinals were able to collect themselves and pull away.
The Blue Demons stay on the road and travel the short distance to rival Marquette on Saturday. DePaul and the Golden Eagles tangle at 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center, while the game will be locally televised on LPTV in Chicago.
Notes: DePaul is now 12-2 in BIG EAST Conference play, which ties with Notre Dame for second... the Blue Demons and Irish play on Feb. 28 at McGrath-Phillips Arena… DePaul's 20 first half points was a season-low... previous low was 26 against Marquette on Feb. 12… DePaul's 55 points is its lowest of the season... 0-2 when scoring less than 60 points this season… all four of DePaul's losses have come on the road… Keisha Hampton led DePaul in scoring for the 13th time this season and 25th time of her career… Hampton finished with 20 points, her eighth 20-point performance of the season and 15th of her career… Louisville improves to 12-2 at the KFC YUM! Center… Monique Reid led 28 points, her eighth 20 point performance of the season… Louisville is now 5-5 against top 25 teams this season... DePaul still leads the all-time series, 14-13... Louisville is 8-4 in games played on its home court.
