Westley Leads Blue Demons on Final Day of USF Invitational

DADE CITY, Fla. - Ben Westley fired a 72 to finish in a tie for 30th and led the Blue Demons at the USF Invitational. DePaul finished 16th among the 21 teams competing at the Lake Jovita Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
Westley started the day in a group in 39th place and shot his second even-par round of 72 of the weekend. He opened the tournament on Friday with a 72 before shooting a 75 on Saturday. Westley put together a tournament total of 219 (+3) to finish tied with five players in 30th place.
Freshman Moritz Ackerhans was the next top finisher for DePaul in a tie for 45th. He put together rounds of 76, 72 and 74 for a tournament score of 222 (+6) and was two strokes ahead of Charles Boucher. Boucher shot a 75 on Sunday to finish his weekend at 224 (+8) and placed in a tie for 54th.
Maximilian Mayer put together a tournament total of 229 (+13) with scores of 75, 80 and 74 and Russell Budd was 90th with a score of 236 (+20) after posting daily totals of 79, 80 and 77.
Middle Tennessee State won the tournament by nearly 20 strokes with a tournament team total of 838 (-26). Florida State was second at seven-under with a score of 857 and Florida Gulf Coast was third at 864 (E). DePaul put together a team total of 894 (+30) to finish in 16th place. Individually, Middle Tennessee State's Hunter Green earned medalist honors with an 11-under total of 205.
Up next for DePaul is the Spring Break Championship hosted by Florida Atlantic. The three-day event takes place Mar. 25-27 at Gleneagles County Club in Delray Beach, Fla.
