Men's Tennis Hosts Toledo and Purdue

CHICAGO - After starting the season 2-0, the No. 68 DePaul men's tennis team returns to Lakeshore Sport and Fitness for a pair of matches this weekend. DePaul hosts Toledo on Friday at 7 p.m., while the ranked Boilermakers hit the courts on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Blue Demons (2-0) dominated in their first two duals, sweeping UIC and Detroit last weekend. In singles action, 10 of the 12 matches were decided in straight sets, while Mathias Hambach domintated his matches.
Hambach dropped just three total games, overpowering his opponents with 6-0, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-0 match scores. The Blue Demon junior enters the weekend with a 6-5 singles record.
George Chanturia and Filip Dzanko both lead the Blue Demons with 12 singles wins. Chanturia, a junior, is 12-2 and has won his last five matches. Dzanko, a sophomore is 12-5 with three straight wins. Freshman Adam Reinhart is 9-2 on the year and has won five straight heading into the weekend.
DePaul and Toledo meet for the eighth time in nine seasons. DePaul holds a 5-2 series advantage in those duals while the Blue Demons have won the last five meetings, including last season's 5-2 win over the Rockets in Lincoln Park.
DePaul has played in numerous tournaments with Purdue, but has not, faced the Boilermakers in a dual since Jan. 18, 2009. DePaul won that match 4-3 in West Lafayette. Purdue is the first of three Big Ten opponents for the Blue Demons. DePaul goes to Iowa for a Feb. 4 match and heads to Minnesota for a Feb. 12 dual.
Following this weekend's matches at the corner of Fullerton and Lakewood, DePaul heads to Boston for the Harvard Invitational Jan. 27-28.
