
Golf Defeats Ohio in Medal Match

Okatie, S.C. - The DePaul golf team won its first medal match of the season against Ohio on Saturday at the Callawassie Creek Country Club. The Blue Demons took the match 8.5-6.5.
The format of the match differed from standard match play scoring. Golfers could earn up to three points in their match. Points were earned in one of three ways: posting a better score than your opponent on the back nine, front nine and/or over the course of the 18 holes played.
James Lelliott, Moritz Ackerhans and Jan Juelicher earned eight out of a possible nine points in their respective matches. Lelliott swept his opponent while Ackerhans and Juelicher each emerged victorious 2.5-0.5.
Jonathan Hewett battled, but dropped his match 2.5-0.5. Adrian Halimi fell 3-0 in his match.
DePaul returns to action Monday when it competes at the ninth-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. This two-day tournament tees-off at 7:30 a.m. (CT) with two rounds to be played on Monday, followed by the final 18 holes to be played on Tuesday.
