DePaul (20-6, 11-3 BIG EAST) has won nine of its last 10 games heading into Saturday's showdown with Butler. The Blue Demons and Bulldogs met for the first time this season on Jan. 25, 2014 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. DePaul had five players reach double-figures on its way to an 85-64 victory.
Saturday marks the fifth all-time series meeting between the two programs with the Blue Demons winning all five contests. DePaul is 2-0 in games played in Lincoln Park, while this marks Butler's first trip to McGrath-Phillips Arena.
With only four games to play in the regular season, the Blue Demons sit in second place in the BIG EAST standings - one game behind St. John's, who won the first meeting with DePaul, 96-86 on Jan. 11 in Chicago. The Blue Demons' remaining schedule includes home games with Butler (Jan.22) and Georgetown (Mar. 4) while they travel to Villanova (Feb. 25) and St. John's (Mar. 1).
A big weekend of conference play is ahead as Butler (12-13, 7-7 BIG EAST) enters Saturday's game in sixth place in the league standings and has won four of its last six games. Villanova plays ninth-place Georgetown on Sunday and enters the weekend in a tie with Marquette for fourth place. St. John's, who is coming off a 60-57 loss at Georgetown, travels to third place Creighton on Sunday.
With four critical games remaining on the Blue Demons schedule - they must continue rely on the solid play of Jasmine Penny, Megan Rogowski, Brittany Hrynko and Chanise Jenkins. The quartet of DePaul players all rank in the top 25 in scoring in the conference and have helped the Blue Demons to combine for a league-best 83.9 points per game.
Individually, Penny leads the league in field goal percentage (.584). Hrynko boasts a league-best 5.7 assists and 2.5 steals while Rogowski is the conference's best 3-point shooter with 3.2 triples per game. Rogowski also boasts the 15th best 3-point field goal percentage in the country and connects on just over 44 percent of her long-range shots.
Butler is paced by Daress McClung's 15.2 points per game and Liz Stratman follows at 12.5. Stratman also leads the BIG EAST in blocks with 2.5 per game and ranks 13th in the league with 6.4 rebounds.
