Bonjour!
So far the France trip has been absolutely amazing! First of all, let me start by giving a great big shout out to DePaul University, our coaches, families, military veterans and Father Ed! Let's start with Paris; Paris is of course known for its beautiful cathedrals and artistry but what really amazed me the most was the great work by St. Vincent DePaul.
Father Ed led us through the historic footprints of St. Vincent de Paul; the roads he traveled spreading the gospel and doing good works until the day he died. There are so many statues, plaques, memorials and paintings in his honor. Father Ed's passion for St. Vincent and the ministry was evident in every word and site he guided us through. It really inspired me. Father Ed's knowledge about France and St. Vincent is second to none. I am truly honored to be a part of his legacy as a student-athlete at DePaul. To this day, our women's basketball team continually gives back to the community and serves as a beacon of God's light to many.
The Eiffel Tower is a big highlight in Paris and was originally constructed as an exhibit for the World's Fair. Today, it still stands and draws millions of people every year. We took a scenic cruise along the famous Seine River and were able to see a spectacular light show within the Eiffel Tower that lit the sky from miles away! The Seine River is famous because it divides the city from the left and right bank and many of the historic buildings like City Hall, the Louvre, and many more line the river.
What has been even more exciting is the fact I have been able to enjoy every part of Paris with family. My two aunts, grandmother, and mother have been able to join this trip of a lifetime -- and I am grateful for that. There are four generations of my family here, and we are really prideful, but blessed to be able to do so. I love my family, and their continued love and support they shower me with every single day.
To sum up, the team and I loved Paris! We were able to experience opportunities that are on most people's bucket list. While here, Megan Podkowa and I even convinced Centrese to have her makeup done -- it was fun watching Tee Tee get "dolled up" and look absolutely flawless.
Nous aimes Paris! Merci Father Ed! Au revoir Paris, bonjour Normandie. I hope that was correct French.
Until next time,
Chanise Jenkins "Trixy" -- #13
