Men's Tennis Opens Purdue Invite With Four Singles Wins

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The DePaul men's tennis team opened up its 2014 fall season with four singles wins on Friday afternoon at the Purdue Invitational.
Friday's action marked day one of the three-day event.
In Flight A, freshman Alex Galoustian won his first career collegiate match by knocking off Oleksiy Arovin (Tennessee Tech) in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (6). He'll play in tomorrow's quarterfinals against Case Western's Christopher Krimbill at 8 a.m.
Sten Leusink advanced to Flight B's quarterfinal by knocking off Chicago's Deepak Sabada, 6-1, 6-2, and Tim Corwin beat Cleveland State's Manuel Bellutti, 7-5, 7-6 (6), and will play in the Flight C quarters.
Kyle Johnson posted DePaul's final win of the day in the first round of Flight C by defeated Mackenzie Stearns (Marquette), 6-4, 6-3.
David Vieyra (Flight A), Nathan de Veer (Flight B) and Jan-Willem Feilzer (Flight E) also played on Friday but dropped their season-openers.
The Purdue Invitational continues tomorrow morning.
