BEALLSVILLE, Md. - The DePaul golf team finished in seventh place at the 31st Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate on Tuesday at The Members Club at Four Streams. The Blue Demons registered a team score of 33-over par for a combined score of 601 to finish nine strokes behind champion Princeton (592) on the challenging par-71, 6,894-yard course.
Freddy Thomas and Jonathan Hewett finished in ninth and 14th place, respectively. Thomas, who entered the day tied for eight, fired a four-over 75 to finish in a five-way tie for ninth place. The sophomore's top-10 finish was his second of the season and sixth of his career.
Hewett matched Thomas' second round score, but finished in 14th place because of the log jam in the ninth spot.
Bobby Thomas, who was playing as an individual, moved up 10 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 26th after shooting a team-best 74 in Tuesday's second round.
Adrian Halimi (+10), Jonathan Goldstein (+12) and James Lelliott (+14) rounded out the DePaul contingency.
Princeton, who started the day in sixth place, moved up in the team standings after Quinn Prchal tied the low-round for the tournament with a 67 on Tuesday. He shared medalist honors with Rhode Island's Billy Walthouse.
Rhode Island (595), Illinois State (598), Georgetown (598) finished behind Princeton while Richmond (599) and William & Mary tied for fifth place, just one shot ahead of the Blue Demons.
DePaul breaks until January when the Blue Demons travel to Beaumont, Calif for the Winter Intercollegiate. The spring season sees DePaul compete in six events before the BIG EAST Championship, May 1-3 at Callawassie Island Club.
