CHICAGO -- The No. 22 DePaul women's basketball team closes out the exhibition portion of its schedule on Saturday when it welcomes Lewis for a 3:30 p.m. contest. The game is part of a DePaul basketball doubleheader with the men hitting the floor at 1 p.m. against Caldwell.
Gametracker is available for Saturday's exhibition while in-game scoring and notes can be followed on twitter -- @DePaulAthletics and @DePaulWBBSID.
DePaul is coming off a 135-64 victory over Saint Xavier in the team's first exhibition contest of the season on Monday. Jessica January led eight Blue Demons in double figures with 23 points while Megan Podkowa and Ashton Millender each scored 20 points in win. The Blue Demons forced 27 Cougar turnovers while committing just six themselves.
With DePaul seemingly scoring at will against Saint Xaiver, the Blue Demons knocked down 55.4 percent of their shots which included hitting nearly 83 percent in the second quarter. Podkowa went 8-of-10 from the field while the senior also grabbed a floor-best 10 rebounds.
Although Lewis is located in suburban Romeoville, the Blue Demons and Flyers have not met since Nov. 1, 2006. DePaul topped Lewis 93-83 in what was the Blue Demons' first exhibition contest of that season.
Lewis, who is ranked No. 2 in the preseason WBCA/USA Today Division II Coaches Poll, took Loyola-Chicago to overtime on Wednesday. The Flyers fell in Rogers Park 79-73 behind 29 points from Jamie Johnson.
The Blue Demons begin their season in the Preseason WNIT against Southern Illinois. DePaul and the Salukis are scheduled to tip on Nov. 13 at McGrath-Phillips Arena at 7 p.m.
Highlighting Some of the New Rules for 2015-16:
• Game moves from halves (20 minutes) to quarters (10 minutes each)
• Each quarter will have just one electronic media timeout
• Halftime remains 15 minutes and will be after the second quarter
• Head coaches will have four timeouts that they can call -- one full (60 seconds) and three 30-second timeouts.
• There is no more one-and-one -- on the fifth foul of the period, players will now shoot two free throws. Team fouls reset after each period, however should the game go into overtime, the team fouls from the fourth quarter will carry over.
• In an effort to enhance the in-game experience the band or amplified music can be played during any deadball situation
• Complete list of rule changes are available on the NCAA website
