No. 22 DePaul Ends Exhibition Schedule with Win Over Lewis

CHICAGO - Jessica January scored 26 points in the No. 22 DePaul women's basketball team's 87-67 win over Lewis on Saturday at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The game was DePaul's final exhibition game before starting the regular season in Preseason WNIT on Friday, Nov. 13 against Southern Illinois.
January was firing on all cylinders - to go along with her game-high 26 points, the three-year starter added eight assists, nine rebounds and six steals for a complete effort.
Chanise Jenkins (16), Brooke Schulte (15) and Mart'e Grays (12) also finished in double figures for the Blue Demons who shot 47.0 percent for the game.
DePaul led wire to wire behind the Blue Demons persistent and sometimes annoying defense. Led by January's six steals, the Blue Demons forced the Flyers into 25 turnovers. DePaul turned the ball over just 15 times and did not send Lewis to the line at all in the first half. The Flyers only sent two players to the charity stripe for just four free throw attempts.
DePaul took its first double-digit lead in the first quarter on a pair of January free throws with 25 seconds to play; but Lewis would close out the quarter on a 4-0 run to bring the deficit back to single digits.
The Blue Demons broke open the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Flyers 23-14 and took a 50-35 lead into the locker room at the half.
Lewis cut the Blue Demons lead to nine points twice in the third quarter but DePaul closed out the game by outscoring the Flyers 21-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Lewis, who is ranked No. 2 in the preseason WBCA Division II poll, was led by Jamie Johnson's 21 points.
The Flyers matched DePaul's offensive efficiency by shooting 50.9 percent for the game.
The Blue Demons open the regular season in the Preseason WNIT against Southern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 13. DePaul and the Salukis tip at 7 p.m. in Lincoln Park.
On Sunday, the Blue Demons will host either St. Bonaventure or Siena at 4 p.m.
