LAS VEGAS - The DePaul softball team could not get the bats going in the finale of the Alexis Park Resort Classic on Sunday, as the Blue Demons fell to Wisconsin, 9-0.
DePaul (6-12) was shutout for only the second time this season and was held to just three hits in the six-inning affair.
After a clean start in the first two innings, Wisconsin (6-10) got on the board with a bases-clearing triple and a RBI single to take a 4-0 lead.
Badgers pitcher Taylor-Paige Stewart kept the Blue Demon offense off-balance in the first four frames, totaling five strikeouts and only allowing one hit - a Dylan Christensen single in the second.
The runs kept coming for Wisconsin as the road team plated two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the game by run rule.
Besides Christensen, Kali Gardner and Megan Leyva were the other Blue Demons to notch a hit in the game.
The platoon of Mary Connolly, Maxine Rodriguez and Leyva split the six innings, combining for nine runs and eight hits allowed.
DePaul returns to action this weekend when it stays in state for the Coach B Classic, hosted by Southern Illinois, March 7-8.
