NEW YORK -- DePaul softball's Mary Connolly was selected to the final BIG EAST Honor Roll of the season following a pair of wins over Butler last weekend, announced by the league office on Monday.
For the three-game series, Connolly hit .375 with five RBI. The senior slugged 1.125 after notching a home run, triple and double against the Bulldogs. The homer -- a two-run shot -- tied Connolly for the single-season program record of 16 in a season.
Connolly made three starts in the circle for the Blue Demons and went 1-1 with a 3.06 ERA across 16 innings pitched. The Winfield, Ill. native kept Butler off balance with seven strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .242.
This was the fourth time the senior slugger has landed on the honor roll in 2015. Connolly picked up recognition following action at the Houston Hilton Plaza Invitational (Feb. 16), Easton Tournament (March 16) and after a conference series at Georgetown (April 13).
Connolly and the DePaul softball take aim at the BIG EAST Championship this weekend, May 8-9. The Blue Demons open in the semifinals against Seton Hall at 1 p.m. at the Ballpark in Rosemont. For ticket information, call 773-325-SLAM (7526).
