Women's Basketball Opens 2015-16 Season Against SIU

CHICAGO -- The DePaul women's basketball team opens its 2015-16 season against Southern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 13 in the opening round of the Preseason WNIT at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The Blue Demons and Salukis tip the season at 7 p.m. in Lincoln Park
DePaul is one of 16 teams in the Preseason WNIT which runs Nov. 13-22. Â
Teams on DePaul and SIU's side of the bracket are St. Bonaventure, Siena, Indiana, Tennessee State, Chattanooga and McNeese State. The winner of the DePaul/SIU game plays the winner of St. Bonaventure/Siena on Nov. 15, 16, or 17. The losers of the first round games will fall into the consolation bracket and play again on Nov. 20.
DePaul and Southern Illinois will meet for the 14th time in November and for the first time since 2011. The Blue Demons hold a 9-3 series advantage and have won the last eight contests. DePaul is 6-0 in games played on its home floor with five of those contests being played in Lincoln Park and one took place at the Allstate Arena.
DePaul also opened the 2007-08 season against the Salukis. The Blue Demons won that contest 78-63 in Carbondale.
The other side of the Preseason WNIT bracket features Baylor, UT-Arlington, Southern Miss, Alabama State, South Florida, Jacksonville, Drexel and Dartmouth.
The Preseason WNIT Championship Game will be played at a campus site at 2 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 22. The championship game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Â
