CHICAGO ââ'¬" DePaul sophomore Ashton Millender was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The accolade comes after the guard tied a career-high with 15 points against both Xavier and Butler over the weekend.
Millender had almost identical outings over the weekend ââ'¬" she played 22 minutes against each the Musketeers and Bulldogs and knocked down three triples in each game. She added an assist in each contest while grabbing two rebounds against Xavier and three versus Butler.
For the week, the Glenwood, Ill., native converted on 11-of-15 shots which included a 6-of-9 mark from behind the 3-point arc. Millender was a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line and boasted a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Millenders honor marks the seventh straight week that a DePaul player has either been named the conference's Player of the Week or to the league's honor roll. This season, Jessica January, Megan Podkowa and Chanise Jenkins have been named Player of the Week a total of five times. Brooke Schulte and now Millender along with January and Podkowa have been named to the honor roll in total of seven weeks.
With wins over Xavier and Butler over the weekend, DePaul clichéd the No. 1 seed in the league's conference tournament and at least a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season title. DePaul has won at least a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season title in each of the last three years marking it the first time since Connecticut that a team has won three straight regular season titles.
DePaul hits the road this weekend for games at Providence and Creighton. Friday's game in Friartown is set for a 6 p.m. (CT) on the BIG EAST Digital Network while Sunday's game with the Bluejays tips at 1 p.m. on FS1.
